Thiruvappur is a holy place at about 3km from Pudukkottai bus stand. The goddess Muthu Maari Amman who once upon a time resided in the depths of the forest, then appeared in the village to protect the people from epidemics.
Devotees gather here to place their requests and complaints as a child would rightfully ask a mother, and the goddess, with the selflessness of a mother, demolishes the hurdles. Auspicious events such as weddings and child birth are also some miracles that Shri Muthu Maari Amman grants to her devotees.
