Resolving disputes: Woraiyur Shri Thanthondreeshwarar Temple

According to history, Lord Shiva once appeared here to save a pregnant woman from distress. This temple is located in Woraiyur, in Trichy City. The deities are Shri Kunguma Valli (aka Thillai Kaali) and Shri Thanthondreeshwarar. There is no temple as such in this location, but just the statues of the deities. The name Thanthondreeshwarar means that the statues were not man-made, but appeared naturally.

Tuesdays, Fridays, Sundays and New moon days are ideal to worship the gods here. Devotees usually offer red flowers such as Nerium, and believe that worshipping this goddess resolves disputes within the family, weakens enemies and ensures prosperity. Married couples also believe it strengthens their relationship.
