Thingalur Sri Kailasanaathar temple is situated at about 2 kms from Thiruvaiyaaru while travelling on Kumbakonam route. Goddess here is Sri Periyanayaki
This is the principle Navagraha shrine for Chandra(Moon). Being on the banks of river Kaveri, this temple is called Vesham Theendapathi. On Panguni Uthiram day alone, sun rays fall directly on the Siva lingam in the sanctum. On the same evening, moonlight happens to fall directly on Sri Kailasanaathar.
Appoothi Adigalar, the renowned devotee of saint Thirunavakkarasu, who ran a free kitchen in the name of the saint, was born in this village. Chandra, the moon god, worshipped and got relieved of his sins here. There is a separate beautiful altar for Lord Chandra.
Sri Kailasanaathar lingam is suyambu(not man made but came naturally) and worshipping here would relieve us off the malefic effects of Moon.
