Thirusakthi and Sri Sakthivaneswarar temple

Thirusakthi and Sri Sakthivaneswarar temple is situated very near to Patteeswaram at Kumbakonam. A lovely temple on the southern banks of Kaveri.

Goddess Sakthi is said to have observed penance in this forest, hence the name Sakthivanam. The divine place where Goddess performed penance by standing on one foot and placing her right hand on her head. Goddess' name is Sri Periyanayaki.

Thazhuvakuzhaindha Eesan altar in this temple is the only one of its kind. With one feet on ground and other on the Aavudaiyaar(the spout like extension of the Siva lingam), feet not touching the body of the lingam, Goddess blissfully embraces the Siva lingam. Having darshan here would improve marital bliss, family unity and prosperity would be bestowed! From the rear view, Goddess observing penance on one foot, can be witnessed.

Morning 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Evening 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
