The Sun god has worshipped here. Lord Siva removed one head of Brahma as a punishment for Brahma's vanity. Hence Lord Siva here is known as Sri Brahma Sirakanteeswarar.
Brahma and Saraswathi have separate altars here nearby the Lord's sanctum. Lord Murugan has a rosary bead on his right hand and lightning force on his left hand. This shrine removes one's pride&vanity and bestows wisdom.
Siva atoned the sin of having decapitated Brahma's head and Vishnu relieved this sin for Siva. There is Harasaapa Vimochana perumal temple and Brahma temple nearby.
